Audio

Audio

Clean, reliable sound for interviews, presenters and live crosses, with the right microphone for each job.

Good pictures are wasted if the sound is poor. The ACOCA Media audio kit is built around a Deity wireless system, with a microphone for each kind of shoot so the sound suits the situation instead of making do with one option.

Deity Theos wireless system

Two receivers and two transmitters. A small transmitter is clipped to each person and a receiver on the camera picks up their sound, so two people are each recorded cleanly on their own channel with no cables across the floor. Wireless microphones can struggle in cities and at events where the airwaves are crowded. The Theos can move across a wide range of frequencies to find a clear one, which keeps the sound steady at conferences, hotels and live events.

  • Great for: two-person interviews, presenters on the move, busy locations
  • Worth knowing: frequencies are checked against local rules when we travel

Sennheiser MKE 2 lavalier microphones

The small clip-on microphones used on interviews, paired with the Theos transmitters. A broadcast standard, easy to hide on clothing and natural on voices. We carry Deity lavaliers as spares.

  • Great for: sit-down interviews, presenters, anyone who needs to look natural on camera
  • Worth knowing: thick or noisy fabrics need careful placement, which we handle on set

Sennheiser shotgun microphone

Sits on the camera or a boom pole and picks up what the camera is pointed at.

  • Great for: fast-moving news and documentary, natural sound, a backup on interviews
  • Worth knowing: it hears the room too, so lavaliers give cleaner voices in noisy places

Electro-Voice RE50 handheld microphone

The classic reporter's handheld, found on news crews around the world. It is tough, and it is built to keep handling noise and wind to a minimum, which makes it the go-to for street interviews, press conferences and live crosses.

  • Great for: vox pops, press scrums, live shots in noisy places
  • Worth knowing: it is visible on camera, which suits news but not every brand film

DJI wireless kit

A second wireless system with two more transmitters, for panels, larger groups or as a backup.

  • Great for: panels and groups of up to four people on wireless, quick setups
  • Worth knowing: for large panels or events we take a feed from the venue's sound desk

Ceflar EX-8 audio mixer

An 8-channel mixer for shoots with more voices than the camera can take in directly. Every microphone comes into the mixer so each one can be balanced before it goes to the camera, the live switcher or a stream.

  • Great for: panels, podcasts, live streams and events with several microphones
  • Worth knowing: for very large events we take a feed from the venue's sound desk

Keeping it all in sync

Sound and pictures are locked together with Deity timecode. See the Timecode page for how that works.
